AROLA ARCHITECTURE

architect

New residential units retain and reactivate a lightning-damaged and antiquated downtown office building.

CHALLENGE

The building was struck by lightning and suffered a partial collapse and the historic trading floor was obsolete, but the stalwart façade was an important part of the downtown skyline.

SUCCESS

New History worked with the ownership team to plan and execute a complex, phased project to reinvigorate this downtown landmark. First, the building had to be stabilized and repaired. Then, a viable market-driven use was developed and designed to retain the historic character of the building – and especially the decorative trading floor.
