COMMISSION HOUSE
Reactivating Lowertown with new housing and retail
"Commission House was not a big project but certainly had a mighty demand for attention. With New History’s strong processes in combination with their passionate, detail-oriented, and solution-oriented team, we were able to resolve the most challenging situations and bring the project to a successful completion. We are very thankful to have them as part of our team!"
- Marc Basara, Development Manager at The Ackerberg Group
New housing and retail can reactivate historic districts.

CHALLENGE
The reactivation of mid-sized "Main Street" commercial buildings with new mixed use development comes with big challenges - for design, financing, and approvals. Designs need to incorporate both finished historic retail space at the first floor and living units at the traditionally open upper floors.
SUCCESS
New History efficiently brought historic tax credits to make this challenging project successful. The project design team created 26 units within the small floor plates. At the first floor, New History coordinated the new commercial tenant spaces with the revitalized storefronts, new building systems, and multi-tenant needs for access and signage.
