As the largest historic tax credit project in Minnesota, The Dayton's Project is the historic redevelopment of a Minneapolis landmark.

CHALLENGE
With 1.2 million square feet and 14 eras of construction, the historic Dayton's Department Store is an extremely challenging repositioning project in the heart of downtown Minneapolis ... that happened on the precipice of a global pandemic.
SUCCESS
New History was a key team member of this fast-paced multi-phased large-scale historic renovation project. New History successfully overturned a previous denial for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and then provided navigation of a multi-phased historic tax credit project - including guidance on critical design issues, on-site demolition and construction review, and communication with preservation stakeholders. The Dayton's Project extends well beyond Minneapolis, and touches the memories and futures of many Minnesotans.
